CONNECTING CULTURAL COLLECTIONS WORKSHOPS

The Californian Connecting to Collections Project (C3) is a statewide preservation project that will provide information, education, and training to California heritage institutions. Three trainings will be offered, Protecting Cultural Collections: Disaster Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery and Are you Ready? Protecting Cultural Collections: Disaster Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery
The Heritage Health Index determined that most collecting institutions need an emergency or disaster response plan that includes collections, and staff trained to carry it out. Attend the interactive 2-part workshop “Protecting Cultural Collections” and walk away with the tools you need. LEARN MORE.
 
Are You Ready? Testing Your Disaster Plan
Will your disaster plan work in a real disaster situation?  It's better to find answers now than after a disaster has occurred! Attend this scenario-based and collaboration workshop to help heritage institutions – libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, etc. – improve disaster preparedness and response for collections.This workshop will: Help you assess your vulnerabilities, test your plan using a scenario table top exercise, explore how collaborations can help you respond to a disaster, build a shared vision for regional disaster preparedness. Creating and Funding Preservation Projects to Enhance Collection Care Do you want to get a preservation grant to take care of your collections? Many institutions have used grant-funded projects to enhance the level of care they can provide for their collections, and sometimes even to jump start their preservation programs. By the end of the one-day workshop, participants will have outlined a preservation project proposal specific to their institution, identified possible funding sources, and tested their ideas with other workshop participants.  LEARN MORE.
